I just started running a few weeks ago. Started out at .5 miles and was wheezing. I'm not the athletic type but I'm not lazy either. A few weeks ago I purchased my first pair of Nike shoes because I know if I spend over $60 on them I'm going to stay committed to this. At the Nike store I didn't know running shoes you had so many options. An associate helped me out and looked at me like an alien when I said I have never owned a pair of Nike's before. After my purchase I had to break these bad boys in, immediately my knee wasn't hurting and it felt awesome.
3 weeks later I'm now up to 2.75 miles and it's starting to become easier...hoping it will be the same as I had to take 3 days off due to a sinus infection.
If you haven't downloaded the Nike + running app I suggest you do. It gives you motivation by picking powersongs when you are slowing down. Also people like your run on facebook and you hear cheering, which helps you gain more motivation.
Better get off the computer so I can get my run over with. Wish me luck since I've had 3 days off...lets hope I can breath out of my nose.
